The Mercedes Pinnacle Trim Explained

Like most luxury car brands, when you buy a Mercedes Benz, you get the usual options and extras. These can be as simple as different paint or as complex as subscriptions to premium traffic information. Recently, with the release of their electric models, Mercedes now have different trim levels for certain cars, containing a set of features. At the top of these trim levels is the Pinnacle trim.

As the name suggests, the Pinnacle trim includes some of the best features available on a Mercedes Benz. That sounds great, but there’s a bit more to it than that. Pinnacle trim comes after Exclusive, which means you get all the features of that pack too. Basically, it can get confusing for you, and Mercedes hasn’t made it easy to understand.

That’s where we come in. In this article, we’ve broken down the features included in Pinnacle and also which Mercedes models have this option. We’ve also covered the cost and if we think Pinnacle trim is worth it.

Let’s get started!

Pinnacle Trim Features

Now that we’ve covered the Mercedes vehicles with Pinnacle trim as an option, let’s look at some of the key features. Each Mercedes Benz comes with different options as part of the Pinnacle trim, so it’s important to check the list of features.

Panoramic Roof

If you want your car to feel more spacious, a panoramic roof is a must-have option. Sunroofs have always been popular on luxury cars, but the panoramic roof is a step above. Mercedes has introduced the option for a panoramic roof on most of their current models, either as a standalone feature or as part of the pinnacle trim level.

EQB models include a panoramic roof with the Pinnacle trim package

Designed with either one large piece of glass, or two pieces, a panoramic roof allows sunlight into the cabin for front and rear passengers. On most Mercedes Benz models, you can open the panoramic roof by sliding and raising the glass. As a standalone option, the panoramic roof is usually between $1,000 to $1,500 to add to a Mercedes, so it’s great value to see this within the Pinnacle pack.

Burmester Sound System

Mercedes has been partnered with Burmester for years, and they offer some of the best sound systems you can find in any luxury car. The current Burmester systems are split across four setup levels, each with unique features.

Burmester has four different sound systems across the Mercedes range

On Pinnacle trims with a Burmester system, this is usually an upgrade from Mercedes’ entry-level sound system. On the C 43 model, you get a further upgrade to a 3D Burmester system, which has some unique features. Depending on the system, you can spend between $2,000 to $7,000 as a standalone option.

To find out more about the different Burmester systems, we’ve covered everything about Mercedes and Burmester here.

Heads Up Display

Heads Up Displays have become increasingly popular on most luxury vehicles, with some truly impressive setups. The Mercedes HUD system isn’t our favorite (that’s Audi), but their system is useful enough. With info on speed, navigation, and traffic details, the Mercedes HUD is a worthwhile feature.

On some models, the Pinnacle trim includes an AMG Heads Up Display. This is a slightly different style of HUD, but it contains all the same information as the standard display. If you wanted to add the Heads Up Display as a one-off feature to your Mercedes, it will cost around $1,000.

Heated / Ventilated Rear Seats

Most current Mercedes cars include heated front seats, and a handful also give you ventilated seats. This is common in luxury cars, but it’s less common to find heated and ventilated seats for rear passengers. Only available on a handful of cars, the Pinnacle trim adds these features to certain Mercedes’.

Mercedes seat controls
Heated and ventilated seat controls can be found on the door of your Mercedes

For heated and ventilated rear seats these are controlled using buttons on your door panels. Each seat is controlled individually, with the same settings as your front seats. To add ventilated seats to your Mercedes as an individual option, it’s between $400 – $1,000.

Rear-cabin wireless charging

Wireless charging is a feature that should be included in every luxury car, but it’s usually just a single space in the front cabin. Mercedes is changing that, and as part of the Pinnacle trim, they have added a wireless charging station for rear passengers.

The EQS sedan includes the option for wireless charging in the rear seats, with the Pinnacle trim

Located in the central armrest, the wireless charging station is suitable for most smartphones. This is only available on a handful of Mercedes Benz models right now, but we expect it’ll be expanded out to the rest of the range soon.

No – only a handful of current Mercedes models have the option for Pinnacle trim. These are mostly new Mercedes vehicles, like the EQE and EQS models.

Can you choose the features in the Pinnacle trim?

The Pinnacle trim features are fixed by Mercedes, so you can’t choose individual options.

How much is the Pinnacle trim?

The cost of the Pinnacle trim depends on the Mercedes model and is based on the starting cost of each model.

Can you upgrade from the Pinnacle trim?

The Pinnacle trim is the highest trim level you can select on certain Mercedes models

What other trim levels are available on Mercedes models?

Alongside the Pinnacle trim, you can also choose Exclusive or Premium trims

Is the Pinnacle trim worth buying?

Overall, there are some excellent features included in the Pinnacle trim, but the price is steep. For most Mercedes cars, we think it’s best to pick your options individually, as most options packs included features that we don’t need.

When it comes to the Pinnacle trim, there is great value in models like the EQB. The Exclusive trim already includes plenty of impressive options, but adding a panoramic roof, surround camera, and Soundsystem upgrade is worth the $2,500 for us.

If you’re thinking about choosing the Pinnacle trim, it’s worth seeing if you can get any specific features as individual options first. For example, if you’re only interested in the Heads-Up Display, Mercedes usually offer this on its own. This way, you won’t need to pay extra for those options you don’t need.
