The Mercedes Exclusive Trim Explained

If you’re looking for a Mercedes Benz, you want to make sure it has the best features and options for you. Like its rivals at BMW and Audi, Mercedes has a fairly complicated list of packs and extras to choose from. Most of these are available as individual options, but Mercedes has started to change this. In their recent models, Mercedes has introduced trim levels, and one of these is the Exclusive trim.

The Exclusive trim is their ‘mid tier’ pack of features. It’s a step up from the basic Premium trim, but it’s missing some features included in the Pinnacle trim. Even so, the Exclusive trim has some great options, depending on the Mercedes model.

Understanding the Exclusive trim can be difficult because each model includes different features, and this trim isn’t available in every car. This is where we come in. In this article, we’ve split out every Mercedes that includes the Exclusive trim and what features you can get. We’ve also covered the cost, and if we think the Exclusive trim is value for money.

Let’s get started!

Exclusive Trim Features

Now we’ve looked at the Mercedes vehicles with Exclusive trim as an option; let’s look at the features in more detail. Below we’ve covered some of our favorite options you can get as part of the Exclusive trim to help you decide if this is the right package for you.

Front Massage Seats

Massage seats are a great sign that you’re in a luxury car, and Mercedes have added massage seats to their high-spec models for years. This feature is now available on more Mercedes cars than ever, and as part of the Exclusive trim, you can add this feature.

Massage seats are controlled through the central Mercedes touchscreen

The massage seat function is only available for front seat occupants and is controlled through the central touchscreen. Depending on the model, you’ll have access to a number of different massage programs and intensity levels.

Cabin Fragrance and Purification

We’ve included two features in one here; the cabin fragrance upgrade and the air purification feature. The fragrance upgrade gives you a choice of up to four different scents for your Mercedes to improve your cabin. Selecting the fragrance and also the intensity is done through the central screen, and you can easily replace fragrances when one runs out.

The air purification system filters out particles and odors from outside to improve your cabin

The air purification system works by filtering out particles through a charcoal filter and air ionization. That might sound complicated, but the important part is that you’ll get fewer odors from outside and ‘cleaner’ air. This is a feature we were really impressed with, and made more impact than expected.

We’ve covered the Mercedes fragrance and purification system in more detail here.

4 Zone Automatic Climate Control

The four-zone climate control is a great feature in your Mercedes if you often have rear passengers. On most cars, there will be dual climate controls for the driver and front passenger, but no setup for anyone in the rear seats. The 4-zone system here allows each rear passenger to control their climate settings, with a control on the center console.

These controls include adjusting fan speed and temperature and directing the airflow. It’s a simple system, but on long journeys, rear passengers will thank you for the option to control their settings.

Ambient Lighting Upgrades

Ambient lighting is becoming increasingly popular in every new car, and Mercedes have some of the best systems out there. With their new range of electric models, the interior lighting setup has gone to another level, with more customization than ever.

Active ambient lighting will react to certain situations in your Mercedes

With upgrades like Active Ambient lighting, the car will react to certain situations. For example, it’ll display a ‘welcome’ light when you enter the vehicle, and on the Warmth program, the lighting will change as you use your heated seats.

FAQs

Is the Exclusive trim available on every Mercedes model?

No – only certain models include the Exclusive trim. These are mostly the new electric models, like the EQB and EQS

Can you choose the features in the Exclusive trim?

Exclusive trim features are fixed, so you can’t change them. Mercedes do include different options for each vehicle, though.

How much is the Exclusive trim?

The cost of the Exclusive trim depends on the Mercedes model – it costs between $1,500 and $3,000 to upgrade from the Premium trim

Can you upgrade from the Exclusive trim?

You can upgrade to the Pinnacle trim, which includes every feature from the Exclusive trim, along with extra options.

What other trim levels are available on Mercedes models?

Alongside the Exclusive trim, you can also choose Pinnacle or Premium trims

Is the Exclusive trim worth buying?

Overall, the Exclusive trim contains some useful features, but plenty of options you probably don’t need. The ambient lighting upgrades are excellent if you want a premium-feeling cabin, and the air purification system is useful. These two options alone are good enough to make us think about getting the exclusive trim, and the rest are a bonus.

One thing to consider if you’re looking at the Exclusive trim is the individual options. If you’re only interested in one or two options, it might be less expensive to select these individually and avoid the Exclusive trim.

It’s also worth looking at the Pinnacle trim. This is the higher level, including everything from the Exclusive trim and some extra key features. We’ve covered the Pinnacle trim here.
