The Most Expensive Nissan Models In 2023

Nissan is one of the most famous names in the Japanese automotive industry, and they offer one of the most varied model ranges on the market. From SUVs to city cars, with some serious performance vehicles on top, there is something for every driver in the Nissan lineup. At the top of that lineup are some surprisingly expensive Nissans too. But which is the most expensive?

You’ll probably recognize some of the models on this list (no surprises that the GT-R makes an appearance) but there are some cars you wouldn’t expect here. Nissan is growing into a more premium manufacturer, and offering some models with an impressive range of technology and cabin features. With those features comes a price tag, and there are some large numbers on our list.

So what are the most expensive Nissans in 2023?

The Most Expensive Nissans

In this article, we’ll talk about the most expensive Nissan vehicles on sale in 2022. These are standard models with no bespoke options or extremely limited editions.

I’ll give you some info on those limited editions, but they won’t count. In short, everything listed here is available for ordering through the Nissan website.

We’ll also compare the starting costs for each vehicle and how much you would need to spend to select every option available. So with that cleared up, let’s get started!

5. Nissan Maxima: $38,140 to $49,323

The Maxima is Nissan’s performance sedan

The first model on our list is the Nissan Maxima. This is Nissan’s premium sedan, with 300 bhp and plenty of features to match the price tag. The Maxima is currently in its 8th generation, and one of Nissan’s most powerful vehicles.

Even as standard the Maxima comes with plenty of technology, and upgrading to the Platinum spec will get you some incredible options. You get all the usual offerings here, with Apple CarPlay, Bose audio, heated seats & steering wheel, and plenty of USB connectors (including USB-C). On top of these, the Maxima comes with a wide range of driver assistance and safety features, like intelligent cruise control, 360-degree cameras, and automatic emergency braking.

Nissan market the Maxima as a four-door sports car, but for us, it feels more like a performance tourer. The cabin is great for longer journeys, the V6 engine is effortless, and 30mpg on highways is a respectable figure. All of these features come at a cost though, and the starting price of nearly $40,000 will put some drivers off.

4. Nissan Titan XD: $39,700 – $59,783

Nissan Titan XD
The Titan XD is the largest pickup Nissan manufactures

Next up is the Nissan Titan. This is a very different car from the Maxima in almost every way, even though their starting prices are similar. The Titan is a full-size pickup, and although it comes with a few luxuries, this is a vehicle built for tough work.

The Titan is powered by a 400 bhp V8, with over 400 lb/ft of torque. All this performance, along with the Titan’s size means you have a towing capacity between 9,300 and 11,000 lbs, depending on the spec. Even by pickup standards, this is impressive, especially at prices under $50,000.

The Titan isn’t simply a one-trick vehicle though. You still have a range of tech and comfort features here, and the Titan’s cabin makes this a vehicle you can use every day. You get an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a range of interior trims, and leather options for your seating. There are the usual driver assistance features too, and Nissan claims the Titan has the most standard safety tech in its class.

Upgrade to the top-spec Titan XD and you get 20-inch alloy wheels, premium leather, and a host of other styling changes. These come at a price though, as the Titan can reach almost $60,000 with options. That might be too much for some, but the lower-spec versions still come with plenty of features, and at around $50,000 the Titan is a great option.

3. Nissan Z: $39,990 – $54,750

Nissan Z yellow
The Nissan Z is the successor to the 370z

In third place is the new Nissan Z. This is the spiritual successor to the 350z and 370z, and it’s been one of the most anticipated sports cars of the last few years. In keeping with tradition, the Z is powered by a twin-turbo V6, with 400 bhp, and crucially it comes with a manual option alongside the automatic version. Nissan has also made sure the Z is ready for the future with a host of tech features.

The driving experience is key in the Z, and Nissan has focused heavily to make this car as great as it can be. You get launch control, a limited-slip differential, multi-link suspension, and rev-matching. The Z also comes with a host of parts in aluminum or carbon fiber, helping to keep weight down to boost performance.

It’s not all about power and handling though in the Z. Nissan has added a central touchscreen and a digital display for the driver. You have USB connectivity and Apple CarPlay, and a Nissan wifi hotspot. With only two seats the Z isn’t the most practical car on this list, but it’s one of the most enjoyable to drive.

Overall, the Z has returned to a crowded market, with competition from the likes of the Porsche Cayman and Audi’s TT range. For $40,000 the starting price of the Z makes this a great option to undercut the more expensive German models, and even with options, you’ll have change from $60,000.

2. Armada $49,900 – $70,195

Nissan Armada
The Armada has the option for a full 3rd row of seating

The Nissan Armanda is in second place on our list. This is Nissan’s largest SUV and shares a number of features with the Titan. The Armanda is also powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine, with the same 400 bhp as the Titan, although towing capacity isn’t as high, at 8,500 lbs. The Armada makes up for this with some impressive features and plenty of practicality.

The selling point of the Armada is the interior space and flexibility. You can seat up to 8 in this SUV, and if you want extra storage space the Armada fits over 90 cubic feet of luggage with the seats down. This adaptability marks the Armada perfect for larger families, especially on long trips. The seating configuration doesn’t affect comfort either – you have the option for heated seats in the first and second rows, along with entertainment screens for second-row passengers.

As you’d expect from a car starting at $50,000, cabin comfort isn’t the only benefit to the Armada. You get a 12.3-inch touchscreen as standard, along with plenty of technology. Options include a Bose Soundsystem, a full 360-degree camera, and the usual Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

The Armada won’t be for everyone, and with options, the price tag of $70,000 is a lot to ask for a Nissan. This is a lot of car for your money though, and if you need a large passenger vehicle, the Armada is packed with features and a competitive price against rivals like the Ford Expedition or Toyota Sequoia.

1. Nissan GT-R: Currently Sold Out

Nissan GT-R
The GT-R is one of the most practical supercars you can buy

In first place is the car many of you will think of first when someone mentions Nissan. The GT-R is one of the most famous cars to ever come out of Japan, and for good reasons. The current generation GT-R is showing its age in 2023, and a new version is on the way, but for now, this is still an incredible piece of automotive engineering.

Powered by a handcrafted 3.8 liter V6, the GT-R puts out 600 bhp and 481 lb-ft of torque. These aren’t crazy numbers by modern supercar standards, but it’s the driving experience that makes the GT-R special. With an incredible all-wheel-drive system and impressive aerodynamics (for a four-seater car) this is a monster on the track or the road, able to achieve a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds.

We won’t go into too much detail on all the engineering or we’ll be here all day. Aside from the staggering performance, this is as close as you can get to a practical supercar. Ok, it’s not ideal for a long family road trip, but there is rear seating, and large trunk, and plenty of cabin comforts. The GT-R might be infamous for its behavior on the track, but the fact you can drive this every day is the reason the GT-R is so popular.

This popularity has a downside though. At this time the GT-R is currently sold out in the US, and until we get more news on the updated model it’s impossible to get your hands on a new car. Hopefully, this means we’ll see the next generation of this icon very soon.

Summary

So overall, the list of the most expensive Nissan models looks like this

  • Maxima: $38,140 to $49,323
  • Titan XD: $39,700 – $59,783
  • Z: $39,990 – $54,750
  • Armada $49,900 – $70,195
  • GT-R: Currently Sold Out

These cars are a great example of the range from Nissan. Between V8 pickups and supercars, there’s a vehicle for almost every requirement here. And with prices easily passing $50,000, there are some expensive Nissan models currently on sale.

We expect to see more expensive Nissans in the future as electric vehicles take hold, and personally, we can’t wait to see what Nissan reveals as the successor to the GT-R. We’ll have all these details and more as they are released here on the Weekly Autos.
