Audi has one of the widest model ranges of any manufacturer. With all this variety comes choices, and on some of Audi’s most expensive vehicles, drivers expect the ultimate in Audi luxury. One of the more exclusive packages from Audi is the full leather interior package, which is only available on three vehicles currently.
The name might give you an idea of what’s included in this package, but Audi has added more than just a ‘better’ interior. As part of the full leather interior package, you get upgrades to your seats and climate controls, all designed to help make you as comfortable as possible.
So what exactly is included in the full leather interior package? In this article we’ve broken down the features, the costs, and what we think of this pack (and its price)
Let’s get started!
What’s included in the Audi Full Leather Interior package?
The full leather interior package from Audi contains the following options. These are different on each model, so we’ve broken down the features available below:
e-tron GT
- Fine Nappa leather seats, perforated with “RS” honeycomb stitching
- Sport seat pro, front, with pneumatic adjustment for leg and side bolsters
- Heated, perforated, and leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Ventilation and massage for front seats
- Leather-covered dash, doors, and center console
RS e-tron GT
- Dinamica® headliner
- Leather-covered dash, doors, and center console
- Fine Nappa leather seats, perforated with “RS” honeycomb stitching
- Sport seat pro, front, with pneumatic adjustment for leg and side bolsters
- Heated, perforated, and leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Ventilation and massage for front seats
R8
- Leather-covered dash, doors, and side panel.
As you can see from the features available on each model, the Full Leather Interior package improves a few key areas:
Fine Nappa leather seats, perforated with “RS” honeycomb stitching
Seat quality has always been a focus on luxury cars, and Nappa leather is often the benchmark for high-quality material. Like its rivals, Audi offers an upgraded Nappa leather seat as part of this pack, with the RS logo stitched in the fabric.
Generally, Nappa leather is a noticeable upgrade on standard leather seats. It’s softer and easier to clean & maintain, and we’ve spoken to Audi owners who claimed their Nappa seats were in good condition after 100,000+ miles.
There are small downsides, though. Nappa leather can get warm in hotter temperatures, in comparison to Alcantara, for example. Overall though, the upgrade from standard leather to Nappa won’t go unnoticed.
Heated, perforated, and leather-wrapped steering wheel
Another feature in the Leather Interior package, the wrapped and heated steering wheel, is a dual upgrade. Firstly, the leather finish looks far more premium than the standard wheel, although you may prefer the original design.
The heated steering wheel element is going to be a fantastic addition for some owners, and useless for others. Like heated seats, if you’re in a colder (or even mild) climate, then all the extra heating you can get will be appreciated. However, if you’re buying your Audi in a warmer region, you probably won’t get a lot of use out of this.
Ventilation and massage for front seats
We are definitely in luxury car territory here. The leather interior pack also adds ventilated and massage seats for the driver and front passenger, along with the standard heated seat function. These additions are the reason this package is upwards of $4,000, and for some of you it will be money well spent.
We’ve covered Audi’s ventilated seats in more detail here, but in general, they work the same as heated seats – you have three intensity levels to control the amount of ‘cooling’. The massage seats have a similar level of customization; you can choose from five intensity levels, and multiple different massage ‘style’ for different areas.
The massage seats in particular, are a bonus on longer journeys. We’re not sure if you needed all the multiple settings, but a lot of manufacturers are adding more adjustments to their massage seats, so Audi is keeping pace.
How much does the Full Leather Interior package cost?
The features of the full leather interior pack vary between Audi models, and this changes the cost. In summary, the costs for each vehicle are:
- E-tron GT – $4,000
- RS e-tron GT – $5,350
- R8 – $3,000
Is the Full Leather Interior package worth it?
The full leather interior package is a fairly simple pack by Audi standards. There are some welcome upgrades to interior materials, and the extra seat functions are fantastic. Even with all that, this is an expensive options package, and depending on the Audi model, we would find it difficult to choose this package.
The best value comes with the standard e-tron GT. for $4,000, you get the important features, including massage & ventilated seats, Nappa leather, and improved sports seats. Compare that to the RS e-tron, where the price of the leather interior package is $5,350, and the major difference is an upgraded headliner.
The R8 model is even worse value. We have to admit the R8 comes with half of these features as standard, but $3,000 for some leather on the dashboard feels like money wasted. Audi has some exceptional options and packages to make a meaningful difference to your vehicle; the leather interior pack just falls short.
