The Audi Warm Weather Package Explained

Optional packages are everywhere in the luxury car market these days, and German manufacturers like Audi are frontrunners here. They might not be as bad as Mercedes and BMW with the optional extras, but you still have plenty of add-ons when choosing your new Audi.

As you can see from the features available on each model, the Warm Weather package improves a few key areas:

Ventilated front seats

Ventilated seats have become a popular accessory in recent years, and you’ll find them available on most luxury cars. Using a set of fans built into the seat, you’re able to choose the ‘intensity’ of the ventilation in the same way as setting your heated seats.

On most Audi models, you can operate the ventilated front seats through your climate touchscreen, although some models still have a physical button. You have three levels of intensity, which you can separately adjust for the driver and the passenger.

Front sport seats with 4-way power lumbar

The Warm Weather package also includes upgraded front seats on some Audi models. This feature is a strange inclusion on a climate-focused pack, but the upgraded seats make a significant difference, and the lumbar support is great on longer journeys.

Front sport seats offer greater support and adjustment

With a more ‘bucket seat’ design, these front sports seats hold you in place more securely. Design-wise they don’t look too different from standard seats, and they aren’t as ‘sporty’ as the seats you find in RS models, but they are a great balance.

Neck-level heating system

The neck-level heating system is available on Audi coupe models, and part of the Warm Weather pack on the A5 and S5 cabriolet. For driving in colder regions with the car roof down, most cabriolet owners will tell you the neck heating option is essential.

This feature works through a fan built into the seat, and can be used with the roof up or down. At higher speeds, the neck warmer isn’t that effective, but at slower speeds (and during the start of your journey) it’ll make a significant difference.

How much does the Warm Weather package cost?

Depending on your Audi model, the Warm Weather pack costs between $550 and $1,450. As you’d expect, the price increases with extra features.  Some features are available as standard on higher spec Audi’s, so be sure to check what options you get with each model before adding this pack.

Is the Warm Weather package worth it?

As a general options pack, some of the features you get here make this a great option to add on your Audi. The upgraded sport seats make a noticeable difference, and ventilated seats are always a welcome bonus.

One issue here is that Audi calls this a Warm Weather pack, but some of the options make no sense to us. Climate-style packs from the likes of BMW and Mercedes are clearly focused on improving conditions when it’s cold, but this Audi pack is hit-and-miss.

Overall, if Audi just called this a ‘comfort’ pack or similar, it would make more sense. That’s a minor problem though, and if we look at the options available against the price of the Warm Weather pack, I would definitely consider adding it to your Audi.
