Ambient lighting setups have become one of the most popular extras in luxury cars. All major manufacturers now include some type of ambient lighting, and the German brands offer some of the best designs. This includes Audi, but like its rivals at Mercedes and BMW, ambient lighting isn’t available on every model in the range.
So if you want a new Audi, what type of ambient lighting are you going to get? In this article, we’ll cover the different levels of ambient lighting available for each Audi, how much it costs, and how each level works. We’ll also show you how to access ambient lighting in your Audi model.
Let’s get started!
The Different Levels of Audi Ambient Lighting
Across the Audi range, there are three levels of interior lighting. Depending on your model, you can upgrade between levels, and each pack offers a different interior experience. Let’s break down these levels:
Ambient LED Interior Lighting Package
The most basic lighting option is the ‘LED interior lighting pack’. This feature has white LED strips within the cabin, which can turn red as part of the traffic warning system. The LEDs are located on the doors, within the center console, and in the footwell.
Ambient LED Interior Lighting Plus Package
The ‘interior lighting plus pack’ adds customization to the lighting, allowing you to select from 30 colors. You can also change the intensity and which areas of your Audi are illuminated.
Contour/Ambient LED Interior Lighting Package
On some of the most expensive Audi models, the contour lighting pack includes everything from the previous levels, with additional details. Areas of the cabin (including the door panels and console) have additional contoured areas where a second lighting color can be selected to increase the ambiance.
How to access Ambient Lighting in your Audi?
To change or turn on your Audi ambient lighting, go into your central touchscreen and the main menu. In the vehicle menu, there is an option for ‘light and visibility’. In that menu, you have an option called interior lighting, and from there you can select the intensity and change colors.
Do all Audi models come with Ambient Lighting?
Across the current Audi range, all models include a version of ambient lighting. In the below lists, we’ve covered which version of ambient lighting is available on every Audi model and trim level. For those models with Multicolor Ambient Lighting as an optional extra, you get Standard Ambient Lighting included for free.
Audi models with Multicolor Ambient Lighting
The below list covers every Audi model with multicolor ambient lighting. Most cars below have the Interior Lighting Plus Pack, but a handful of the most expensive models include the Contour upgrade. As expected many of these vehicles are the latest models in the Audi range, such as the e-tron and the new Q8.
For most models, the multicolor ambient lighting is only available on the Prestige spec. We’ve covered the Premium and Premium Plus trim levels later in the article.
