Which Toyota Models Have Ventilated Seats?

In previous years, ventilated seats were reserved for luxury car brands only. With modern cars, you can find ventilated seats on almost every brand, including Toyota. Across the Toyota range, from Sedans like the Crown to SUVs and Trucks, there are more features than ever.

With so many models, it’s not easy to work out which features you can get with each Toyota, and that’s where we come in. For features like ventilated seats, we’ve put together a guide for each Toyota model to show you which cars have this option and which don’t. We’ll also cover how ventilated seats work in your Toyota and how much they cost to add.

Let’s get started!

How Do Ventilated Seats Work?

Ventilated seats use a system of fans built into the back of the seat. These can run at different intensity levels to generate more cool air if needed. Just like heated seats, you can change and control the intensity level for each seat individually.

Ventilated seats can be effective, but their main focus is recirculating air, just like a standard fan. If you’re expecting an ‘air conditioning’ effect, this won’t happen, as the space in your seats won’t allow a more complex system.

Even though they use a basic fan setup, ventilated seats can help on longer journeys to keep you focused on warmer days. With high-intensity levels, some ventilated seats can make a noise, which is more noticeable on electric models.

Using Ventilated Seats in a Toyota

On most Toyota models, the ventilated seats are controlled via a button or rocker switch. These are found on the center console or just below the climate controls on the dashboard. Ventilated seat controls will be next to the heated seat switches, and the intensity levels will be shown with a series of blue lights.

Like most ventilated seats, you can have three intensity levels in your Toyota. You can’t use the heated seat function at the same time, so in order to change across, you’ll need to switch the ventilation off first.

Some Toyota models have the option for ventilated seats in the rear too. These are controlled from a switch on the back of the center console, next to the rear seat air vents.

Do all Toyota Models come with Ventilated Seats?

No – the ventilated seat option is usually reserved for the highest trim level Toyotas. Some vehicles offer you the option to add ventilated seats (at a cost), but most Toyota models don’t include this feature.

In the sections below, we’ve covered the models with ventilated seats as standard, as an optional extra, and those Toyotas without ventilated seats.

Are ventilated seats worth choosing for your Toyota?

For me, ventilated seats are a worthwhile option, only if you’re in a warm climate. They definitely help on hotter days and also help to keep you alert on long drives, but it costs a lot to upgrade your Toyota to include this feature.

Because ventilated seats aren’t offered as an individual option, you need to pick a Platinum or Limited spec Toyota to use this feature. These trim levels are expensive, so it’s definitely worth looking at the other features to decide if it’s worth the money.

These trim levels come with a lot of extra options and can be great value. If you’re only looking at ventilated seats though, it’s not worth paying all that money. For us, the ventilated seats are good to have but not necessary.
