The Most Expensive Ford Models In 2023

The Ford name is one of the most famous in the automotive industry, and for good reason. As one of the oldest brands in the world, we’ve seen some of the most successful vehicles of all time from Ford. Whether it’s the all-conquering F-150 truck, the Bronco SUV, or the iconic Mustang, everyone recognizes a Ford.

In 2023 Ford has its widest range of vehicles for some time, with trucks, SUVs, and performance cars. We also have some of the most expensive Ford models ever sold, but what is the most expensive right now?

With the rise of more advanced interior technology and more demand for features and options, Ford models have become more expensive than ever. Add to that some incredible V8 engines, and the result is a collection of seriously expensive vehicles.

So what are the most expensive Fords in 2023?

The Most Expensive Fords

In this article, we’ll talk about the most expensive Ford vehicles on sale in 2023. These are standard models with no bespoke options or extremely limited editions. I’ll give you some info on those limited editions, but they won’t count. In short, everything listed here is available for ordering through the Ford website. We’ll also compare the starting costs for each vehicle and how much you would need to spend to select every option available. So with that cleared up, let’s get started!

5. Bronco Raptor: $73,780 – $87,395

The new Bronco was released in 2021

The first Ford on our list is the new Bronco Raptor. The Bronco was re-released in 2021, modeled after the iconic original Bronco, with the Raptor version arriving a year later. This is Ford’s answer to cars like the Jeep Wrangler – it’s a true off-roader, with enough tech and comforts that you should be able to use it every day.

At the top of the Bronco, spec list is the Raptor. This version houses a 3-liter V6 engine, with up to 330bhp and 415lb/ft of torque. Those aren’t huge numbers in the world of performance SUVs, but you need to remember this isn’t a car built for straight-line speed.

The Bronco Raptor comes with all the expected features for an off-road-focused SUV. You get front and rear locking differentials, all-terrain tires, and a front stabilizer disconnect to keep the Bronco level on the worst terrain. For $70,000+ it’s a lot of money, but if you’re after a true off-roader the Bronco Raptor has to be worth a look.

4. Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance: $75,895 – $78,010

The Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s most contentious model

Next up is the Ford Mustang Mach-E, more specifically the GT Performance spec. Let’s cover the controversy first; why does this fully electric SUV wear a Mustang badge? We’re honestly not sure there is a good reason, so we’ll leave it at that. Back to the Mach-E, this is a car that no one really expected would be any good, and Ford has certainly impressed.

At the top of the Mach-E spec list is the GT Performance edition. This version gets you a claimed 260 miles of range, with an impressive 480bhp, making a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds. Whilst it’s not Tesla or Lucid quick, the Mach-E GT Performance isn’t exactly slow off the line.

At over $75,00, the starting price of the Mach-E GT Performance puts it in competition with some impressive rivals, including the Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-tron Sportback, and Tesla Model Y. The Mach-E comes with plenty of tech and reasonable high-end materials, but we can’t help but feel that Ford added the Mustang name to make sure they sold a few more units.

3. Shelby Mustang GT500: $79,420 – $127,895

The Shelby GT500 Mustang is the most powerful Mustang Ford has ever built

The third car our list is the Shelby Mustang GT500. We avoid using the word iconic when describing cars, but the GT500 is a name that is worthy of that title. This latest generation of the Shelby Mustang also holds the title of the most powerful production Mustang ever made, with 760 bhp and 625 lb/ft of torque, from a 5.2 liter V8.

We’ve put the Shelby GT500 in second place due to its starting price of just under $80,000, but if you want the ultimate GT500, this becomes a seriously expensive vehicle. Amongst the options, you can select are the $12,000 Heritage Edition paintwork, and the $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack. All this can take you to almost $130,000.

We can talk about the GT500 stats all day, but you’re not buying this car for the numbers, you want this car because of the badge. The price tag here includes the history you’re buying, going all the way back to 1964, and to some owners that will be all that matters.

2. Ford Expedition Platinum Max: $81,620 – $91,985

The Expedition Platinum Max is Ford’s luxury vehicle

In second place for the most expensive Ford of 2022, based on starting MSRP, is the Ford Expedition Platinum Max. The Expedition is Ford’s largest SUV, with room for up to 8 occupants, and a towing capacity of 9,000lbs.

The Expedition only houses a 3.5 liter V6, but this SUV isn’t about performance – it’s about luxury and tech. With the Platinum Max spec, you get entertainment screens for rear passengers (with connection to Amazon Fire) heated seats for both front and rear occupants, and leather captain chairs. These are on top of standard Expedition features such as a panoramic glass roof and a B&O SoundSystem.

The Expedition might not be the most exciting Ford model on sale right now, but it is the most luxurious. In the luxury SUV market it’s hard to look past the German brands if you want the very best, but at $80,000+ and packed with this many features, the Expedition Platinum Max is a worthy alternative.

1. F150 Lightning Platinum: $96,874 – 102,999

Ford F-150
The F-150 Lightning is the electric variant of Ford’s best-selling truck

In first place, we have the F150 Lightning. This electric truck starts at just under $100,000, and although that seems like a huge amount for a working vehicle, this truck comes with plenty of tech and performance.

The platinum spec has a claimed 300 miles of range with dual electric motors. These motors will get you from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds, which is impressive considering the F150 lightning weighs over 6,000 lbs.

Towing capacity in the lightning is over 8,000 lbs, and with a cargo box of 52 cubic ft, this truck doesn’t compromise on practicality. The platinum option isn’t the most practical spec, but if you want the performance and the tech, this is the option to go for.

The tech options include BlueCruise, Ford’s semi-autonomous driving system. You also get the towing tech pack, which includes backup assist, 360-degree camera, and reverse guidance. Overall, if you’re looking for a truck to handle almost anything and you have an unlimited budget, the F150 lightning should be near the top of your list.

Extra. Ford GT: $500,000 (estimated)

The Ford GT will be discontinued in 2022

Ok so this is cheating slightly, but we couldn’t leave the Ford GT out. Although it’s not for sale to the public, and it’s an extremely limited edition, the GT deserves a place on this list. The current GT was launched in 2017 and Ford has hinted that 2022 will be the final year for the GT, so we may never see this type of car from Ford again.

Rumored to cost around $500,000, the GT is a truly special car. With a 0-60 time of 3 seconds flat this is easily the quickest production model Ford, and every piece of engineering has gone into making this an ultimate driver’s car. The wheels are carbon fiber, the body is made from carbon fiber and aluminum, and you can lower the car by 50mm for track day experiences. And if you can find a stretch of track long enough, the GT will reach 216 mph.

To even see a GT is a rare occasion. This is a car purely designed to show what the best engineers at Ford can create, and they haven’t disappointed. It’s in a different class to everything else on this list, and although it doesn’t meet our criteria for the most expensive Ford in 2022, we had to include the GT somewhere.

Summary

We’ve reached the end of our list of the most expensive Ford models, from the Bronco Raptor to the top-spec Expedition. Ford has always focused on powerful SUVs, trucks, and muscle cars, so it’s no surprise these are all included in the 2023 list. It’s great to see a car like the Mach-E here too – you might disagree with the Mustang badges, but it’s good to see Ford branching out.

It will be interesting to see how this list changes in the future. Will we still see V8 engines as part of the lineup, or will things quickly move toward an all-electric future?
