Ventilated seats have been around the automotive world for a few years, mostly included in luxury models from the likes of Mercedes and BMW. Recently though, more brands have been adding this option to their models, and Ford has been one of those companies.
The current Ford range contains many different models, from entry-level SUVs like the Edge, to the electric F-150 Lightning and the latest Mustang. With all this variety comes plenty of options and features, and ventilated seats have been one of those options.
So which models in the current Ford range allow you to add ventilated seats, and how much do they cost? Well, we wanted to answer this, and give you our thoughts on if this is an option worth picking. Below you’ll find a list of every current Ford model with and without the option for ventilated seats and the cost to add this if you want.
How to use ventilated seats in your Ford
Operating the ventilated seats in your Ford is as easy as using the heated seat function. Depending on the model, you’ll either have a physical button for ventilated seats or it will be in the climate menu of your infotainment screen.
Ventilated seats come with multiple levels of cooling, which you can increase and turn off using the buttons or your climate settings.
Do all Ford models come with ventilated seats?
No – only a few vehicles in the current Ford range come with ventilated seats. Below, we’ve listed which vehicles include ventilated seats as standard and how much you have to pay to add it to specific Ford models. We also have a list of any cars where ventilated seats are not an option you can add.

Ford models with ventilated seats as an optional extra
Only a small number of Ford models have the option for you to add ventilated seats. This feels like a strange choice from Ford – there are more vehicles with this feature as standard, so we aren’t sure why Ford only included it as an extra here.
As with most Ford options, you’ll need to purchase an options pack to add ventilated seats. These come with a variety of features, so make sure you’re getting your money’s worth here.
- Explorer ST – $4,940 (part of the ST High pack)
- Expedition XLT – $3,795 (part of the XLT High pack)
- Expedition XLT MAX – $3,795 (part of the XLT High pack)
- Expedition Timberline – $9,220 (part of the Timberline High pack)
- F-150 Tremor – $7,525 (part of the Tremor High pack)
Ford models without ventilated seats
The majority of the current Ford range don’t include the option to add ventilated seats. This isn’t surprising; ventilated seats feel more of a luxury item, which Ford have kept for certain models.
It’s still disappointing to see this option excluded from some newer Ford models, particularly the F-150 Lightning, and we’d expect this to change in the next couple of years.

Are ventilated seats worth adding to your Ford?
The option to add ventilated seats is only available on a handful of mid-spec Ford models, which is strange to see. There are plenty of Ford models with ventilated seats as standard, and we would like to see Ford include this option on a few more models, even if it is an extra cost.
If you’re looking at one of those models where ventilated seats come in an options pack, the important thing to consider is checking what other options you are getting. These option packs are in the thousands, so if you’re only after ventilated seats and don’t care about other features, it’s simply not worth it.
What other Ford options should you look at?
Across the Ford range, there are plenty of impressive (and not-so-impressive) options. We’ve put together articles on the most important features you should consider, covering the price, availability, and our thoughts. Check out the links below for more info:
