Mercedes Benz has always held a reputation as a luxury manufacturer, and plenty of the technology we see on cars today was introduced by Mercedes. Across their current range, you’ll find plenty of options & features, from ambient lighting to ventilated seats. One feature that’s become more popular in the last few years is the heated steering wheel.
Heated steering wheels are nothing new to luxury cars, but previous generations of Mercedes only allowed you to add this feature to the highest-spec models. This has changed, and across the current Mercedes Benz range, almost every car has the option for a heated steering wheel.
Some models include a heated steering wheel as standard, although most only include this feature as an optional extra – meaning there’s a price. The good news is that a heated steering wheel is one of the least expensive features you can select.
In this article, we’ve broken down which Mercedes models come with a heated steering wheel as standard and also how much you’ll have to pay if you want to add this option to their other vehicles. Finally, we’ll give you our opinion on whether a Mercedes heated steering wheel is worth the money.
How to use the Mercedes heated steering wheel
If you have a Mercedes Benz heated steering wheel, this feature’s access is slightly hidden away. To turn on your heated wheel, there is a switch located behind the wheel itself, just below the stalk for your headlights.
To turn the heating on, push this switch away from you, and to turn it off, pull it towards you. The heated steering wheel is also turned off automatically when the car is turned off, so don’t worry about accidentally leaving this on.
Does every Mercedes model come with a heated steering wheel?
Below, we’ve broken down the current Mercedes Benz range into three categories:
- Models with the heated steering wheel as standard
- Models with an option to add the heated steering wheel (and the cost of this)
- Any Models without this option
Mercedes models with a heated steering wheel as standard
The below list is every current Mercedes Benz with a heated steering wheel as standard. As expected, these are some of the highest-spec (and most expensive) Mercedes cars. When you’re paying over $100,000, I would hope that Mercedes includes a feature like this, so it’s good to see this as standard.

Mercedes models with a heated steering wheel as an optional extra
For most of the Mercedes Benz range, heated wheels are optional. On most models, it’s only $250, so it’s a small price to pay if you want this feature – although a few cars only include this as part of a larger package.
We’re not sure how Mercedes decide on this list – it’s odd to see cars like the S-Class include this feature as an extra. We would expect most features to be optional extras for vehicles like the GLA and C-Class.

Mercedes models without a heated steering wheel
Only two current Mercedes Benz models without a heated steering wheel option exist – both AMG GT specs. The current generation of AMG GT cars is a few years old, so I’d expect as soon as a new model is introduced, it will include a heated steering wheel.
- AMG GT Coupe
- AMG GT C Coupe
Is a heated steering wheel worth it?
When we discussed how valuable the heated steering wheel was on BMW models, I mentioned how it’s difficult to live without this feature once you’re used to it. You won’t ‘need’ this option for most drivers, but the $250 price tag is hard to resist.
If you live in a cold climate, I would definitely consider a heated steering wheel for my Mercedes. Simply put, you’ll get plenty of use from it, and it will be better on resale. For everyone else, if you have the budget, then it’s a useful option to have, although there are some other features I would add to my Mercedes before this.
